Kasra Kiai

Kasra Kiai was born into an art loving family in 1973 in Tehran, Iran. His grandfather, Gorgin Kiai was an artist of many talents. He taught music and playing the Dulcimer to Kasra’s father, “Milad Kiai”, while Kasra inherited his grandfather’s talent for painting.
Kasra has been very active in his pursuit of painting and has participated in many art shows and competitions. In 1993 he won the first prize in a national painting competition among Iranian university students. He completed his high school diploma in the field of painting in 1991, his Bachelor of Arts in 1996 and in 1998 received his Master of Arts degree in painting. He has also been recognized as one of the top 100 finalists in 2008/2009 International Art Renewal Center Salon competition.

Kasra believes that the greatest honor for him has been studying under the best Iranian painters and teaching painting to his talented students. Many of his students have become great painters and show prospects of a bright future in this art.

His first professor was Morteza Katouzian, the greatest realist painter in Iran. In his opinion, Katouzian was the pioneer of the realism style in Iran during the time when many modern Iranian artists were trying to enforce their own styles. Later, Kasra benefited from the master painter Abbas Katouzian and the great master of Iranian landscape painting, Rahim Navessi.

Kasra got married in 2006 and now has many students in Iran and in Canada.
