Artist: Ali Akbar Sadeghi

Ali Akbar Sadeghi is a climax figure in the context of Iranian Modern and Contemporary art. He has practiced in many artistic fields and has influenced many genres and artists. He is one of the most prolific and successful Iranian artists of his generation. Sadeghi has participated in over fifty solo and group exhibitions nationally and internationally. His works have been featured in over eight volumes of monographs and is part of renowned museums around the world including British Museum and Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Tehran Museum of Contemporary Arts. He has been sitting on the jury panels of over ten international biennials and has won numerous international awards for his outstanding animations and designs.

In 2009, Sadeghi was recognized by the Ministry of Culture in Iran as an outstanding figure due to his lifetime contributions to Iranian art and culture. Born in 1937, Sadeghi is a graduate from Fine Art Department of Tehran University in 1969. Sadeghi showed a great passion for hand-made objects from his early school years using various tools in his father’s workshop and received his first painting commission in 1952. He became engaged with school performances and makeups and designed his school’s theatre hall. One year later he began working as an illustrator and title organizer for Asia Newspaper. In those years, he also worked as a graphic designer for a variety of Iranian magazines and companies and designed several movie posters. In 1967 he created a number of polyptych stained glass for Roudaki Hall at Talar Vahdat in Tehran.
